Day 04 :
Hike through Bwindi Imenetrable Forest

There are 2 routes through Bwindi Impenetrable forest which take you from Nkuringo in the South to Buhoma in the North. This walk has two trails;

Ivy River Trail

This Ivy River route ascends and descends gently through beautiful areas of the rain forest with several viewpoints from the Marram Road to Nkuringo overlooking lush mist-shrouded valleys. The trail is also an important footpath for local people travelling to and from Nkuringo particularly on market days to Nteko village on the southern boundary of the park. Monkeys, duikers, bush pigs, and some of Bwindi's world-renowned bird and butterfly species can be sighted.

Kashasha River Trail

Slightly more challenging than the Ivy River Trail, the Kashasha River Trail offers visitors an up-close experience of the natural wonders within a rainforest environment. Birds are prolific in Bwindi and your guide will point these out to you during your walk.

On arrival in Buhoma, you will freshen up and then relax.

Dinner and Overnight at Ride 4 A Woman (Full Board).

Day 05 :
Waterfall Trail (Bwindi)

Explore the mysteries of Bwindi, its plants, and trees, see its butterflies, its birds, unique to the area on this trail – it is always amazing what you meet along this trail.

It is a guided trail and one of the most popular ones– birds, butterflies, monkeys,  scenic beauty of the forest, your guide will point out things to you that you might not or miss and it will an enriching part of your time at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the Buhoma region of the park.

This trail was supposed to be a road leading to the town of Kisoro when gorillas and conservation were not on the mind of politicians – thank goodness it was never completed, and you can enjoy it today without vehicles.  ( 3 hours or longer – difficulty level is moderate – location – Buhoma Area).

On this trail, you will meet a lot of residents and it is the most popular visitor hike. In the late afternoon, you can do a Cultural / Batwa Community walk. The  Batwa are the original people of the forest – the Batwa Pygmies who have lived in this area for over 100,000years . You will participate in several activities like firing the bow and arrow, helping repair the Batwa shelter, harvesting plants, lighting, and cultural dance, among others.

Gorilla Trekking

After an early breakfast, start gorilla tracking at 8:00 a.m. in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. While this is a very challenging walk, it is surely one of the highlights of a trip to Uganda. Each group is limited to eight participants at a time. We recommend you wear good walking boots/shoes and carry a good rain gear and enough drinking water. Trekking can be tough and challenging, so we trust you are in reasonably fit condition.
